A few months ago, I noticed something weird:
My ears were tight.
You probably don’t think of your ears as a place where you’d find muscle tension, but actually you have muscles all over your face and head.
And when your sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight branch) is activated, it can cause your neck and facial muscles to tense up (along with other muscles in your body).
Fortunately, there is an easy way to relax this muscle tension with a natural stress management technique designed to target vagus nerve massage points in your ear.
The vagus nerve is your main parasympathetic nerve responsible for the “rest and digest” functions in your body, as well as your ability to feel joy and connection to other people.

Susie, this is AMAZING! I just did this for the first time and feel like I need a nap! I've suffered from Recurrent Major Depression for 55 years and NOT ONE HEALTH PROFESSIONAL HAS EVER EXPLAINED THE IMPORTANCE OF THE VAGUS NERVE TO ME. I've been going through an extremely difficult time lately, despite being on my usual meds, taking an additional med to help sleep when needed, exercising and being retired yet NOTHING has helped to rid me of the extreme agitation in my neck, shoulders & head like these simple exercises. Hi Sukie, these exercises are incredibly powerful. I am nine days into a covid infection, as well as having unmedicated ADHD. The combination is not fun as far as my anxiety and breathing goes. I was absolutely beside myself with panic when I gave these exercises a go. I felt instantaneous relief. Enough to be able to sleep. Now I'm back here again the very next day, as I think I'll need these daily as I heal. Thank you so much for being one of the people in the world who helps others without asking anything in return. Ok, this is TMI so maybe don’t continue reading if you’re grossed out 😅 but after I did these exercises, despite using the restroom this morning, I REALLY had to go to the restroom again. I’ve never had this happen before and now I truly believe that my constipation is from the tension in my body (given that I’m a physically healthy 21 year old who takes fiber). This was widely helpful and I never would have thought in a million years that my bowels would benefit from nervous exercises, crazy

I had my left hippocampus and amygdala resected due to being diagnosed with epilepsy and my anxiety has gotten out of control and my neuro team has put me on quite a bit of anti anxiety/ anti convulsive medication. Not only is this so helpful for my anxiety, but my epilepsy as well!!!!!! I just had a big tonic clonic/grand mal seizure today and so truly if my medications and surgery haven't helped I believe doing this to my Vagus nerve is going to change so many parts of my life
